A 1.2 MW biomass facility for Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI) is being developed for its bottling plant in Rosario, La Union. The project is in line with the PCPPI’s program POWERPLAY, initiated by PCPPI to reduce the operation and maintenance cost of its bottling plants that currently requires huge amounts of electricity and steam.
PCPPI will purchase the thermal energy (process steam) and the bulk of the electric power produced by the plant; surplus electric power may be sold to the grid under the renewable energy Feed In Tariff program in the Philippines or wheeled to supply the needs of other Pepsicola bottling plants.
